After many months of my scrapbook supplies gathering dust in my cabinet and on the table, they finally saw some action this week. It's been slow going getting out of the study mode and back into the creative mode, but believe me it is well worth it. I was going to post some pictures today but my husband got off work early today and I didn't get a chance to get everything done I wanted to, but I promise pictures will be soon to follow! I promise!!!!

It's offically!

For those that dont' know I have been off the radar for awhile now due to going back to school to receive my Associates of Librael Arts degree. As of today I took my last final and will be graduating this Thursday From Northeastern Oklahoma A & M in Miami Oklahoma. I am really excited, and extremely thankful for all of the love and support I've received from my family. Especially my husband and kids who have had to put up with a lot of long hours and a very cranky stressed out momma. I hope this week to finally get to clear off my scrapbook table of all of my school stuff and find all of my scrapbook stuff under all of the dust and cobwebs. So with that said be prepared for a lot of fun layouts, I have had several months of dreaming of what I want to scrapbook first. Only problem is where do I start!

Happy New Year!!!

Welcome 2011! Another year has come and gone and I think I have spent most of the past year with my nose in a text book. I don't see anything changing anytime soon! But I have this next week while my husband heads back to work after his two weeks of vacation and the kids also head back from their school break, to do a bit of scrapbooking. I hope! Everytime I get ready to sit down and do anything related to scrapbooking something goes wrong.

The last two months of November were not easy months. During the middle of November my Grandfather suddenly passed away. And about the time things start to calm down my Grandmother who has had medical problems with high blood pressure goes into the hospital during Christmas. So things have not exactly gone according to plan but... I have tried to make the best of it for my kiddos and kept them from being down. It didn't help that during Christmas my daughter was sick with a cold which of course she was kind enough to share with me and I was sick on New Year's Eve and Day! So Happy New Year to us!!!

But I hope things will calm down soon and that all of us will have a wonderful 2011.

Latest projects

Things have been a bit busy around with the both kiddos going to school and myself taking 19 hours this fall at NEO A & M in Miami, OK. If everything goes the way I have planned, who knows things are always changing around here, I should be able to graduate this May 2011. I will have my Associates of Science Degreee, Pre-elementary education. YEAH!!!!

But I have had very little time to scrapbook and have fun time. When I'm not studying or doing homework, I am usually playing with the kids and having fun. But here are a few projects I've been lucky enough to work on.

Hopefully if things go okay this weekend and I keep caught up on the homework I can have a bit of fun and work on some fun fall and Halloween pages. Here's to keeping my fingers crossed.

A major honor!

I am a follower of Sketches! {by Tamera} both on her website and on facebook. A couple of weeks ago she asked for some followers who would be willing to do a bonus sketch challenge for her, of course I said I would be more than happy to do a layout. Well, this past Monday I received an email from her asking if I was still interested! YES!!!! So she emailed me the layout and I knew immediatley the pictures and paper that work for this gorgeous layout!

All products used were from Close To My Heart, the designer series was a special promotion "Felicity". I also used Twilight and Cocoa cardstock along with both regular and mini copper brads. The stamp sets used was Rustic Numbers and a letter set that was included with the "Felicity" collection.

The pictures are of my mom and my two kiddos at my mom's 50th birthday party!

I hope you enjoy and I look forward to seeing your work once you use the layout.

More scrap time and the end of Summer!

I have enjoyed the time after summer school and the rest of the kids summer off. Even though it has been miserably hot here I have found some cool things for the kiddos to do. I bought extra special paint and the kids have painted some awesome pictures... New Play-doh toys and dough, and after the sun goes down we have had some marvelous water fights. Of course the kids and daddy get the most of it since, my excuse is I have the camera and it can't get wet. Pretty smart of me uh! LOL

Anyways I have got to scrapbook quite a bit the last couple of weeks, I can sit at the kitchen table watch the kids play Wii or play games, and even get to take breaks and play with them. I LOVE IT and I LOVE MY KIDDO's.

But some is coming to an end and the kids both start school this Thursday. Levi will be in second grade and Lilly will be starting Kindergarten. Where has the summer and past five years gone? My baby is starting school, I don't think I am handling it well.

I wanted to take some time to show you a few of the layouts I've worked on I hope you enjoy!

For this "Biker Girl" layout I used some paper I had on hand and a sketch from Scrapbook Generations layout book. The paper doll and bicylce was cut with my cricut using my Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge.

This next layout "New Years 2010" was part of a kit swap I particpated in I had to make a few changes to make it fit my pictures but I love how the layout turned out. The paper packet used was Game On by Close To My Heart!

And the final layout called "Winter Fun" was made using another layout from Scrapbook Generations layout book. The paper is from Close To My Heart, Jingle and the embelishments were another product from Close To My Heart product called Whimsy felt Die-cuts.

When I scrapbook I love to use sketch's. Sometimes they are one's I've come up with on my own, most of the time they are one's I've saw in my Close to My Heart how-to books, Reflections, Cherish, and Imagine. But locally there is a scrapbook store in Springfield (it is amazing) called Scrapbook Generation, that has started developing and printing their own wonderful, amazing, simple, easy to use books. Some of you die hard scrapbookers probably recognize the name Allison Davis, who has been a member of the Creating Keepsake Hall of Fame and Scrapbooker of the year finalist and Dream Team Member, Allison has teamed with Debbie Sanders to create these how to books. They currently have six volumes of Sketches for Scrapbooking and even a Sketches for Cardmaking. December Newsletter

Merry Christmas everyone! I am looking forward to this Christmas very much. Especially next weekend with my Christmas workshop. I am needing a head count on how many will be attending the workshop. There will be a two page scrapbook layout, a couple of cards and a Christmas ornament that I know you all are going to love. There is a slight change in the cost of the layout it will now be $15. So please let me know asap if you will be attending, so that I can have plenty of kits available.

The Spring 2010 catalog will be available January 1st. I've had a sneak peak and there are some beautiful paper kits and once again CTMH surprises me with their new stamp sets. I know each of you are going to be greatly pleased. I will soon be announcing the date of my "Premier event."

Family News!

For those I haven't spoke to recently I have great news. I have finished up with school, I also have a job working in Registration at McCune Brooks Regional Hospital here in Carthage, and graduation is set for Friday, November 13th in Joplin. I still haven't received any news on my test results from my big RMA exam those I should be receiving within the next month. Those are the really exciting things, We did have one downer, we were going to lease to own a house from the owners, but things didn't work out, there was a lot more work that needed to be done than we were willing or had the time and money to do, so we moved in, found out it had problems before we signed a contract, and moved out all in the same weekend. That would explain the being out of touch and not getting the October workshop as promised. I'm hoping things will now settle down and life can get back to some resemblance of normalcy. (yeah right what is normal anymore)

I just wanted to thank everyone for all of the moral support you have provided me during the last 13 months while I was attending school. Your voices of confidence were exactly what I needed. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!

On to my clinicals!

Well I finally finished up the class room portion of my school now I'm onto the clincials/externship part of it. This is definatly not what I expected. I ended up getting to work (mind you it's for free, kinda like slave labor) for Heart Care which is a part of St. John's in Joplin. It's hard getting the kids to there places and me to Joplin, from Carthage, by 8am. Chet's been working a lot of overtime so it's just me getting the kids were they need to go. When I said slave labor that's exactly what I meant, I have to watch alot of things they do, I do get to do BP's and pulse rate and sometimes weight but that's pretty much it. I'm not using much of anything else I learnt. Oh they did have me calling and verifying appointments, filing, faxing prescriptions and referrals. I'm pretty good at using a copier and a fax machine, I can say that, if its the one thing I get to do I guess I will do it to the best of my ability. Most of the medications the patients are on I can not pronounce, and man is there a lot. Some patients are on 10/15+ medications. WOW!!!

I can say I am greatly disappointed but I will grin and bare it as a learning experience. LOL So with all of that being said, I'm sorry I haven't posted as much as normal, with school and studying for finals, and then my big Registered Medical Assistant test last weekend. I've been a bit stressed out. But today I am going to work on a few things I've been wanting to get done. First I owe my daughter a paper pumpkin for her daycare class to display, the two of us are going to work on it together. Who knows what we will come up with. Then I owe my mom and myself our calender page for October, yes mom I am very sorry I will get that done today hopefully. Then I might try doing something else fun, but first I want to spend the day with my kiddos. So I guess I better get off of here and get to work uh.

Saturdays workshop projects!

While watching Wipe Out and Car Crash tonight on ABC I finished up the projects for this weekends workshop. I am very pleased with them and even more pleased that I am getting a chance to use up some of my paper. Now I won't feel so terrible when I buy some of the new stuff from the Fall/Winter Idea Book that goes live on September first.

The two page layout is from Cherish, Golden Section, I used Animal Cookies Level 2 Paper Packet. The cards are some that I scraplifted and added a bit to from a August SOTM blog hop I checked out. (There was 64 blog pages to visit and I can't remember which ones I took ideas from, I'm sorry!) The Happy Birthday card is made using Emporium Level 2 Paper Packet and the Celebrate card was made using the Back Country Level 2 Paper Packet.

If you planning on attending the workshop please let me know by Friday so that I can have pieces of the project cut in advance. Remember class starts at 10 am and class cost is only going to be $10 instead of the $15 I orginally planned. It will cover the two page spread and the two cards. (title can be changed to fit your need on the scrapbook page)

Supplies needed: 12 x 12 paper trimmer, Adhesive, Foam Dimensional squares, and micro-tip scissors. If you'd like you can bring your favorite snack for us all to share. I can't wait til this weekend I hope your as excited as I am.

For this layout I just used up some paper that I had laying around. I really don't know who or where I got it. Sorry!!! The layout came from a book I purchased at Scrapbook Generations in Springfield, MO. They now have four available and I have two of them. They are alot like CTMH's Cherish and Imagine, but it doesn't show any layouts made from it just the sketches.

These next two layouts came from a wonderful buy my mom and I got while we were at CKC Tulsa this past weekend. They are by Lickety Split go by and check out their website for all of their really neat fun pre cut layouts. I'm sure there will be at least five you can't do without. LOL

Saturday's workshop!

I had such a blast this past weeked at CKC Tulsa! My mom and I came back with some wonderful new products and lots of new ideas. It's wonderful to always go and get a creative boost, and spend some one on one time with just my mom and myself, without the kids. It was the clothing shopping afterward that about killed me, or at the least scarred me for life. (HI MOM!!! I love you!)

Anyways, I came back with some great ideas and I cannot wait to show and share these with you in some workshops and events to come.

This Saturday at 10 am is my monthly workshop, we will be using the August Stamp of the Month "It's your day!" to creat a two page birthday spread and a couple of birthday cards. Class cost is $10. The class should be over by noon. Supplies to bring: Adhessive, micro-tip scissors, paper trimmer and if you want a snack to share with my other guests. I can't wait to see you there.

Can you believe it August is already here and with it my last eight weeks of school then my 140 hours of externship. I can barely contain myself, no more homework after September 26th when I take my RMA exam. I want to thank all of you for your patience and support for the past several months while I went back to school and laid low on my Close To My Heart business. You were all great and I really appreciate it. Now with summer almost over and the kiddo going back to school I am ready to do a workshop and I know you all are too. I even have some wonderful promotions from CTMH to update everyone about that I am sure you will want to partake in. So keep reading and I hope to see you all at either my workshop or open house.

Workshops

August 29th at 10 am. Tips and Techniques class. Have you been wanting to learn how to use watercolors, different stamping techniques, or your different ways to use supplies that you already have on hand? Then this workshop will be great for you. We will do 3 to 4 projects that you will be able to use as decorations or artwork around your house and even a card. Class cost is $15.00

September 19th at 10 am. Summer memories, we will be decorating a “My Creations Cube” for you to display memories from this past summer. Class cost will be $20 and class could last at least 2 hours. This is a pre-pay class so that I can pre-order the correct amount of Cubes. Pre-pay due by Sep t. 5th.

Supplies needed for workshops: Good sharp scissors, paper trimmer, adhesive, and foam or dimensional dots. Also, please note all workshops and events will be held at my home unless otherwise stated.

With finals out of the way, I've had some time to be a bit creative. I almost began to wonder if I would ever get the time to scrapbook again. Thankfully, I did.

This layout is made using Close To My Heart products: Creative Basics Animal Cookies X5807, Tulip, Sunflower, & Dutch Blue Cardstock and Exclusive Inks, and Just for Boys C11338 Acrylix Stamp Set.

The pictures are of my husband and son changing the oil in the truck, I snuck out and took these pictures without them knowing what I was doing. They are defiantly priceless.

This next layout is also made of completely CTMH products: Daydream Level 2 Paper Packet X7108B, Just for Girls C1337, Magic Moments B1318 Acrylix stamp sets, Blush, Lilac Mist, Sweat leaf and Cream Brulee Cardstock and Exclusive Inks. The Words "Birthday Girl" were cut out using my George cartridge for my Cricut.

And this page is for my monthly calender, this is the June page and the pictures were from our camping trip a couple of weekends ago. Again all of the product is CTMH: Back Country Level 2 Paper Packet X7110B, Dimensional Elements In color-Adventure Z1158, Cooper brads, Outdoor Denim Cardstock. Also for the lettering "Camping" I used my George cartridge again.

Well I've been a tad bit behind this past couple of weeks. Between studying for finals, and keeping the kids busy now that summer is here. You all probably understand where I'm coming from. Well I have a few extra hours to myself this week, so I'm hoping that I can do some catching up. Today, I got a chance to up date my blog and to read comments and much to my surprise I received a blogger award. Thank you so much Jessica for the nomination.

Teacher's gift!

Well it's officially Levi is no longer a Kindergartner, yes mommy had a break down this morning as I dropped him off for his last day of school. (I also caught it on camera.) I now have a first grader on my hands, where does the time go? It seems just like yesterday we picked him up from the hospital, now he's getting so big on me. I know it's just the beginning, but if I'm this upset over this stuff now, can you imagine how I'll be when he graduates from high school and then college. Oh that's a scary thought. LOL

This year we had a wonderful teacher her name was Ms. Bollinger, and believe me she had her hands full. Out of 22 students only 5 of them were girls, yes the rest were boys, and yes she does still have all of her hair left.

As a thank you for all of her hard work and time I made her this cute album as a thank you gift. I would love to take all of the credit but... I got the original concept from Kelly Triggs, she's a fellow CTMH consultant from Surprise, Arizona. (Click on her name to follow a link to her piece of artwork.) Her book was made using the new 3 ring binder that CTMH brought out in this summer's new idea book. Unfortunately I did not have one of this on hand but did have a product from Hobby Lobby that worked at just as well.

The paper packet is the Creative Basics Animal Cookies Collection and I added misc. cardstock that I had on hand in the colors of Topiary, Tulip, Sunflower, and Dutch Blue. Also, I used three different stamp set, Just for Boys for the "100% Guaranteed" stamp, Family Ties-Children for the two kids on the back of the front cover, and Say It In Style for the word collage for the inside of the back cover.

Change of plans!!!!

I've decided to go ahead and keep the blog page up and going. After much debate and friendly advice from other's who have brought the copying of artwork and so forth to my attention, I've decided why shut down my page.

I started this blog well over a year and a half ago, because of my love of scrapbooking and stamping and the need and desire to share with others. That's one of the reasons I joined Close To My Heart, not to make a profit, but to do something I really enjoy, teaching and scrapbooking. Why should I let someone else try and take that from me?

As several wonderful and smarter people than I have stated "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." With that said I am very flattered, I have so much creativity going on inside of my head that I can't keep it straight, or even sometimes sleep at night, so why not share it with those who "don't have a creative bone in there body," or for those that need the extra umph for there artwork.

So keep on copying my artwork just remember where you get it because if you don't others will. Professionalism should always be first and fore most in everyone's mind. It's common courtesy to give credit where credit is due, I always have and always will. If I get an idea from someone elses artwork I will always provide a hyper link to that person's project, so make sure you go and check them out also. Oh and if you decided to use one of my projects for your own creativity send me a link or a picture of it, I'd love to see your take on my material.

I've also come up with a great idea to start in June, keep watch for what that will be, I'm sure everyone will want to join in on the fun!

Blog page shutting down soon!

Due to illegal copying and infringing upon other's designs without prior approval I will have to shut down this blog page, and hopefully start another one. Unfortunately due to this person's lack of "professionalism" I have to do this. The next blog page will have to be password protected and so forth. This will cute down on my visitors but for those who would like to keep following can email me privately and I will get you set up. Thank you for your understanding and patience. Saturday's workshop projects!

I know each of you are going to enjoy the projects I have planned for this Saturday. I've decided to go back to the basics and offer beginner scrapbook and stamping classes. I want to go back to why I first started with Close To My Heart, it truly is faster, simpler and easier.

I can't wait to teach this class and show you some wonderful techniques. Hope to see you there!

Busy weekend!

I've really had one busy weekend!

Thursday Levi had a T-ball game, those 4-6 year-olds are really cute out there on the field.

Friday, we had one heck of a storm come through. I ended up spending most of the morning down in the cave, then once I came top side, I went over to my sister-in-laws, and helped locate springs to the trampoline, shingles from her roof, and then had them all come over and stay with us while they were out of electricity. While we were home I had to calm Lilly down every time our neighbor's started up there motorcycles, because she thought it was another storm coming through. I also found some hail damage on my new car. I figured we would after the golf balls it rained down for a good solid five minutes. Luckily no windows or anything ended up broken. A house down the road from us had a tree come up roots and all, it crashed down the middle of there car and right into the middle of there house. It was a huge tree, and I'm pretty sure it damaged every room in the house. I saw her Saturday outside just standing there crying. I so badly wanted to just go up and hug her. I did stop and make sure there was anything she needed and to let her know I was just down the road if she needed support. I felt so bad for her.

Saturday, I went out with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law for breakfast, after all I deserved it, I cooked three meals for my family Friday, I took the day off from cooking. Then we headed over to there place after we knew they had electricity, and started cleaning up all of the debris. I ended up getting Chet's pickup and we drug about 5-8 huge tree limbs back to the back acreage to get out of the front and back yards. One of the sticks my mil picked up was over 5 feet long and half of it had pierced into the ground. I'm glad that didn't fall on any of the houses or hurt anyone. Saturday night we went out to the drive inn to watch Hannah Montana and Race to Witch Mountain, I have no clue how I stayed awake for both movies but I sure did.

And today, I am so sore I can barely move. My husband and kids did make me a beautiful Mother's Day card and took me out to eat at Logan's. Now I'm at home and I need to get busy either cleaning house or doing homework. I really don't want to do either. LOL

But I do want to take the time to wish each and everyone of you a very Happy Mother's Day!!!!

Hopefully you made it through the weather fine and didn't loose anything.

Sketches! {by tamara} # 90

As most of you know I am a huge fan of the blog page Sketches! {by tamara} and that I try to do the challenges every week. Well the first time I saw this particular sketch I thought immediately of the pictures that Chet took of the kids and I on my first day back to school for Medical Assistant. I think it turned out great.

The products used are:

Perfect Day, Cocoa, Tulip, Juniper and Colonial White Cardstock, Cocoa ribbon, misc. white buttons. (All by CTMH). The letters and the flower design were cute with my Cricut, Storybook cartridge.

I so love this layout and love the fact that I actually took the time to do a page about me.

April Newsletter!

Sorry I've been out of commission for the past week. We've all had the flu and survived it. Even better news is Lilly had her surgery this past Monday and she has done GREAT!!!!! Mommy worried over nothing. (That's what mommy's do best right!) With that done we are now waiting to get some test results back on me and hopefully everything will be smooth sailing for a while!

With everything calming down and me finally getting time to type up my upcoming events, there is a lot going on.

May is National Scrapbooking Month and CTMH is "Tickled Pink" to celebrate it with you. Attached is a flyer for this beautiful paper and stamp set kit that I'm sure all of you will be "Tickled Pink" to get. See picture to the right and click the link to my website for more info.

There will be no April workshop due to Lilly's surgery but there will be great workshop in May.

Also May 1st the Summer Idea Books go live and I have been going through it and my wish list is well over 100 items long, and that's not including the items Lilly has added to it for her wish list. To celebrate the new Idea Book I am going to host a get together over at my house on Sunday, May 3rd for us to go through it, for you to get your free copy and to make a little make and take project. The time will be 2 pm. Keep watching for a link to check it out coming soon.

May workshop will be held on May 16th at 2pm. We are going to give it a try hosting a workshop here at the house instead of at Arby's. That way we can have a bit more fun, less restraint. And I won't be trying to make sure everything gets packed and ready, in case I forget something it makes it a pain. I've got plenty of table space and I believe it will work great. I haven't quite decided what the project will be it is either between A "My creations cube" or something out of the new book. Once I have it designed I will get that email out and it will also be at the open house on the 3rd.

I've been out of commission for the past couple fo weeks with finals and one or all of us have been sick off and on here lately. But this past weekend I got to work on a few things. FINALLY!!!!

These first two projects our for my son's kindergarten class and there memory books. The designer paper used on the April page is from Close To My Heart and is from Stardust. The letters on both the March and April were cut with my Cricut and even the flowers and butterfly on the March page were cut with one of my Cricut cartridges. I don't know how I lived so long without this handy little machine. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

The double page layout is of my nephew Dierks and his first birthday party. The paper used is from Stampin' Up and is from the Maine Blueberry Designer Series if you are interested in any of that paper I have a great demo for you. Just email me and I'll get her info to you. I did these pages as part of a challenge of my favorite sketches group, Sketches {by tamera}. This challenge was for Recipe Challenge # 41. It was to use anything masculine, Metal or a form of grungy(grunge it up by distressing, tearing or inking). I definitely distressed and used a lot of ink on the page. I hope it meets the challenge guidelines, if not it is a very cute layout of my adorable nephew isn't it. LOL

Calendar Page!

Each year for the past 3 years my mom and I do a 12 x 12 calendar. One month she will design the page for the month and then I will do the next month. Well it just happens to be that April is my month to do and I decided to use a sketch layout from Sketches! {by tamara}. I chose to use Sketch # 87. The paper is from Close To My Heart called Daydream. The punch around the outside of the colonial white cardstock is from Stampin' Up! and the alphabets where cut by using my Cricut and Storybook cartridge. I also used Easter Eggs by CTMH for the eggs at the lower left of the page! I know I haven't got any pictures put on it yet, but I'm waiting to use this years Easter pictures.

Maple Leaf!

Each year here in Carthage we celebrate what's called "The Maple Leaf Festival." It last almost two weeks and on the last day is a 3 mile long parade that is the largest in this area, and usually has anywhere from 150 to 200 entries. The kids love to attend it, I mostly like to watch the kids when they get up and chase down the candy that is thrown from the floats and when they dance along with the marching bands.

For this layout I used almost all CTMH heart products. The only thing that wasn't is the letters "Maple Leaf" came from my new Cricuit machine and new cartridge "Storybook," other than that the patterned paper is Magic Moments and the layout design came from Imagine called Supporting Cast on page 98 and 99 for those of you who have this book.

Latest Projects!

A couple of weeks ago my husband bought me a new camera, a Nikon D80, that weekend we took a trip to a local river and the beautiful water fall they have there, so that I could play. Of course this was actually a warm day (thankfully) and the kids were in the mood to let me take a few pictures. This first one is of my son Levi, it's hard to believe how grown up he has become. Today is his 6th birthday and I wanted a cute, simple, grown up layout and this one fit the bill perfectly. It came from Sketches! {by tamara} and I knew immediately when I saw it that it would be perfect. I just love these sketches and the simplicity of them. Products used: (All CTMH product unless stated otherwise) Stardust Paper Packet, Friendship alpha stamp, Textured cutouts, Holiday Craft Buttons, Bamboo and Moonstruck C/S, & Rubber Brayer with Moonstruck ink (done in a curved motion along edges).

This second layout comes from Reflections, Main Frame, Wrap Around, by Close To My Heart. The paper used is Creative Basics Emporium Collection, My Acrylix Be True and misc on hand ribbon and letters.

Of course this is another picture I took that day at the falls, can you tell just how much attitude my four year old has? This picture shows it wonderfully, I can't wait to do the layout with all of the pictures we took that day. It's my next project, wish me luck.

Happy Valentines Day!!!

As a celebration for today I actually sat down and made a card! Go figure I had the time between homework, housework and the kids to actually make a card. I know I'm in shock too. The making of the card kills 3 birds with one stone. I made it for three reasons, 1: For my husband 2: to take part in the Kwerner Design color challenge and 3: For a sketch challenge on the blog page Sketches! {by tamara}. So technically 3 birds 1 stone.

For the Kwerner Design Color Challenge # 41 we were to used SU colors riding hood red, basic black, basic grey and whisper white. I did have to make some changes to the color choice, I guess I need to get some of the c/s from my wonderful consultant (don't I Lois). Since I didn't have those colors I used CTMH Cranberry, Grey Wool, Black and White Daisy. The B & T paper came from Silhouette CTMH Level 2 Paper Packet. The stamp set is Key To My Heart. I really love this combination.

The design came from a challenge I saw from Sketches! {by tamara} It was card sketch # 82 and I can't wait to share it with them. I also hope my husband enjoys it. Just don't tell him there were two other reason to make it besides my love and devotion to him. He will never have to know.

February Workshop!

This will be my workhsop for the month of February. It will be held on Saturday the 28th from 2 to 6 pm at Arby's. We will be making this beautiful home decor item just in time to celebrate the love or loves of your life.

Class cost is $15, and RSVP is a must by February 18th.

I've been praying on wishing for some snow days and they were finally answered Monday afternoon. Of course because of the snow days my CTMH order was 2 days late getting to me, and now I've got a lot of extra work to do to get ready for this Saturday's workshop. Oh well I'll make it. These past couple of days were awesome. Of course Monday I fell on my backside twice both on the same road trip, and because of the weather my chiropractor has been closed, so I'm in major pain but I haven't been able to sit on the couch because it causes it to hurt worse so I either have to sit at the kitchen table or at my scrapbook desk, guess which one I picked. The scrapbook desk of course. So i guess the falling was a blessing in disguise uh. I actually got these three pages done and a couple of other projects finished up. I am so excited to get to share these with you.

New family member!

For those of you who know me and my family you know we tried one of my mother in law's Wiener dogs back in December. She was a great dog for Chet and I but she was completely scared to death of the kids. They weren't rough with her but unfortunately my nephew had been rough with her in the past and we believe that was one thing that made her scared to death of children. After the way he treats dogs, I can understand her fear.

Well this weekend we were in Joplin after my son's Tae Kwon Do class, we went to eat lunch at Mazzio's and I made the suggestion that we could go by Pet Smart. (We do this occasionally, to let the kids go by and see the dogs that the local Humane Society brings in). Well much to our dismay and the children's delight we came across this little girl. She had been left inside a box with two other dogs along one of the busy streets in Joplin, Rangeline Road to be exact. This couple had found them and brought them to Pet Smart to try and find them a home. They were giving them away. Well the kids fell in love and so did I. Chet never stood a chance.

So needless to say we now have a puppy. Her name is Bella, yes from the Twilight series, (I am a major fan). So far so good, we just need to get her house trained. It's very exciting in our house. All I've got to say is the kids and her keep each other very busy. We love her.

January Workshop!

Hello everyone! I hope you all are getting to stay inside where it's nice and warm, for those who aren't make sure you bundle up well, we don't want anyone freezing to death out there. Besides this is the perfect weather to stay inside and do something with your pictures that you took over the holidays. I wish I had some extra time to do just that. I've been busy working on homework, homework and homework. LOL I think I will never see the end of it. LOL

Fortunatly, I got to take a short break this week and work on our project for this month's workshop. I absoultely loved working on this and I know each of you are going to enjoy making it. Class cost will be $25 and you will leave with a completed 6" x 6" flip book, with pages for Jan-Dec for you to add your "Year of Memories." The class date will be January 31st at 2 pm, plan on spending most of the afternoon for the workshop. These are only 6 x 6 pages and do not take that long, but like I said there is one for each month. Class fee will has to be paid by January 19 th so that I can order the supplies needed and have each your class packet prepared for you to minimize time. So please let me know by Monday, if you will be coming to it.

Completed pages for January through December, only two of the pages will have changes because of the fact that I don't have February or May Word Puzzle stamp sets yet, but will have them by the Saturday of the workshop.

Idea Book Premier Pary!!!!

Hey everyone! I'm getting so excited about this coming Saturday. It is my Idea Book premiere party at the local Arby's from 2 pm - ????. I hope everyone can come, I am going to have a fun game, awesome door prizes and a drawing for the hostess rewards. Oh and I'm even going to have a cute little make it and take it for everyone to make.

Pictures of Christmas Gifts

On Thursday while I was at my mom's for New Years, I took the chance to take some pictures of some of the gifts I made for her. I know I promised to share them with you once the holidays were past. So here they are:

The first is a calendar I made out of coasters for her desk at work. The paper used is Evensong and I used the Celebrate Life My Acrylix stamp set.

The next two pictures are of a mini album I made for her using the 9" x 9" My Creations Memory Showcase, the paper used for the project is Whoops-A-Daisy. All products are CTMH. For the words Family and Love I used The Cricuit to cut those out. The stamp set I used was Celebrate Life also.

This last project was a joint gift to my mom from my grandmother and I. This past summer my grandmother had given me a box full of pictures of my mom, and asked me to do an album for her for Christmas. Well for those of you who know me, I have a tendency to wait tell the last minute. I did a total of about 16 8"x8" pages, all in about a weeks time. Yeah I know what was I thinking. It just took me forever to find the right paper and embellishments for the project. But finally I did at Michael's and the rest is history as they say. On Thursday I just took a few pictures of some of my favorite pages.

HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!

Another year has come and gone, we did pretty well. The kids are healthy and still living (they drive us crazy sometimes) LOL. We paid the the truck off, our family/in-law status is better than it was this time last year. I went back to school, I didn't see that one coming at all, all in all I am very happy to see where we are this year.

Last year at this time I challenged myself to do five 2-page layouts each month for our family album. I did really good until the month of November, the only excuse I have is with school and the holiday's, life in general pretty much. But I plan on getting some of those done this next few days. Hopefully.

I've been thinking really hard about what I want my New Years resolutions to be for this year and this is what I've come up with.

1) I want to again, complete five 2-page layouts each month.

2) Create and send birthday-anniversary and other general just because cards and send them out each month. I do or attend all of these workshops where we make cards and I end up not sending out a single one of them. Go figure.

3) I want to continue doing really well in school, I survived the first 12 weeks, lets get on with the next 12 weeks. We will be learning to draw blood and give shots. Let's just hope I don't pass out.

4) To learn I can't change things if others aren't willing to change things themselves. I can only do so much and I need to stop worrying about everyone else's mistakes and screw ups I have enough of my own to deal with.

5) To improve on my parenting skills, and to just remember they are just kids....

6) To grow and expand my Close To My Heart business and customer base.

I think this is a pretty good list to start with. I hope you know that each of you will be helping me with your support through the next twelve months.

I hope each of you have taken the time to look back over the past 12 months and are happy with what you have accomplished and done. May 2009 bring us all even greater joy and memories.

Surviving Christmas!!!

Well we survived, just barely. Of course I was tell the last minute finishing up my homemade gifts. And of course I realized I didn't get a picture of a single one of them. I hadn't been able to post any of them because family would have seen there gifts if I posted them here. But silly me I didn't take the time to take the picture so I could share them with you. I'm sorry! Some I gave to my mom and I promise this weekend I will take pictures and post here then. Other gifts I feel might have been a waste and not really appreciated but hey, what do you expect from people who don't have a clue what work, thought and passion I actually put into the project. (I have issues can you tell) LOL But on to happier things.

The kids loved all of there gifts, and so did my hubby. I especially loved all of my gifts, Santa got my husband and I an MP3 player (Thank you so much Santa!), I received some books I was really wanting, and the Twilight Soundtrack I had been wanting since November. But thankfully it is over and this week after finals I can get back to scrapbooking for us again. I have so many ideas and so little time. I know get busy.

I hope each of you had a wonderful Christmas and that you got to take some time to do something for yourself. That's what I'm going to do after tomorrow and my last two finals. Wish me luck. I'm off to study now!

Well I'm feeling just a bit of nostalgia tonight. The reason being is that 10 years ago tonight I was still single. Yes, I did have a night out with the girls but it was nothing even close to over the top. It was just three of us and one was my best friend and the other was my soon to be sister-in-law, who at the time was 8-months pregnant. We drove through the town we live in, Christmas light display and I was at home by 10 o'clock. As you can tell it was one wild night, we had good clean fun and that was all that mattered. Anyways I was afraid to over excite Jennifer, she might have gone into labor, then I'd have been in BIG trouble. LOL

Anyways, it's hard to believe how fast the past 10 years have gone, and that Chet and I have been married that long. I look back and realize just how much we've changed, what we've gone through (believe me it hasn't been pretty) how tired we are, how happy we are that the kids are going away for the weekend at there Grandma Candie's. And we have nothing planned. We are just looking forward to a quiet weekend, without hearing "She looked at me!" "He punched me!" "I'm hungry!" "I'm thirsty!" "But I don't want that!" (The list could go on forever! LOL)

But with all of that being said I wanted to share a real quick post with you of a page I completed tonight. Of course it is of the kids and was taken around the first week in November, just before the fall leaves started to come off of the trees. We were very lucky to get these shots, about a week later they had almost all fallen off, and were gone. Was that good timing or what.

The paper packet used was Magic Moments, My Acrylix Chocolate for the "Fall" letters and Celebrate for the "Happy". The tree in the corner of the right side page was a piece of a card that I had made at a friends workshop, who is a consultant for Stampin' Up! I'm not much of one to make or send cards but I love to take them and place them on my pages. I believe I've decided this year to make that one of my resolutions for the new year. To send more handmade cards. Let's see if I can follow up on that.

Christmas swap cards!

I am a member of local group of ladies that are called "Wacky

Stampers" and let me tell you they are very wacky and A LOT of fun to be around. It's a group of wonderful ladies that I am very happy to me considered one of them. I'm one of the younger members and I fit in wonderfully. They all remind me of my aunts, wacky, loud, and completely ornery. You couldn't ask for a better group of friends, it's defiantly a group that makes you feel comfortable being with them. Well anyways we are having a get together tomorrow night for dinner and a Christmas card swap. Today I've worked on my cards and these are just four of the cards, something about each is different. All of the products I used are Close To My Heart except for the ribbon and some of the pieces of blue card stock. (I'm trying to use up my stash. And no I didn't even make a dent.)

Products used: Snow Friends D1244, Aspen Level 2 Paper Packet X7103B; Twilight and Black Exclusive Inks, Watercolor Pencils 3505, Blending Pen 3174; Prisma Glitter Z134; and Spiral Clips. The ribbon was something I picked up from Michael's last Christmas.

I hope the ladies like them, for some reason I had to think long and hard about how I wanted the cards to look. I wanted to give these girls some awesome cards.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!!!!!!

Can you believe it we only have 26 days until Christmas, and I have so many projects to get done/started. I need to get busy, but I decided to give my blog page a facelift and get it ready for the holidays. I know I'm going overboard but I LOVE CHRISTMAS!

What's even better is this year we are going to get back to what Christmas really means, I am not going to worry about is someone going to like what I get did I spend enough money. This year it is going to be "You get what you get and you don't throw a fit!" A lot of our presents will be homemade and all we are really buying for is the kids in our family. And ours definatly are not going to be spoiled, I even think we are going to adopt a child/or family for the holidays. My kids need to learn the gift of giving instead of receiving. Yes money is tight for us but there are others who have it much worse than we do. At least we have cloths, a warm house and each other some familes/children don't have these things.

I'll keep you posted on our going ons this month.

Saturday's workshop!

Today I finally got a chance to work on my second option for my workshop coming up on the 22nd of this month. Between housework and homework I decided it the time for work was over and the time for play was here.

This was a lot of fun to make! The paper used was Aspen, and I used Chocolate E-sized letters and All Decked Out for the snowman and snowflakes. I'm going to offer that they can make either "Noel" or "Snow" and they then choose to make it a wall hanging or as a piece that can sit on a shelf.

I will be hosting a workshop on November 22nd at 10 am using the Evensong and Aspen papers to create this beautiful holiday decoration. I know my customer's will enjoy making this project. The one pictured here was made using Evensong and I have the day off from class tomorrow and will be working on the one using Aspen paper.

I really enjoyed making this project, I believe it looks very elegant and I can't wait to see there reactions.

October's Monthly Challenge

Well with school starting and with at least 4 or more test a week I haven't had much time for scrapbooking. This layout I'm showing here I actually started the middle of October and didn't finish it until the first week in November. How terrible is that. But I guess the good thing is I actually did finish it right.

The products used here are all Close To My Heart. The layout is called Grand Finale and came from Imagine by CTMH. The paper is called Boom-Di-Ada and the pictures our of the three of us blowing bubbles one summer afternoon on the front porch.

PS. I missed my monthly challenge of 5 two-page layouts for the month by two pages. Oh well that's two more I have to do for the month of November. I should be working on those instead of typing uh. LOL

Yes I am still here, just been really busy with school and the loads of homework and test they keep piling on top of me. So far this week we have five test scheduled. At the beginning of this I was freaked out about test. Not so much anymore, she gives them out like nothing, you get kinda used to them.

Anyways, I took a break from the studying to make this card for a virtual swap I am a member of. This one is using the November Stamp of the Month, All Decked Out, by Close To My Heart. Isn't he just adorable, I had a lot of fun "dressing him up." Making this snowman got be really wishing for winter and the beautiful white stuff, yes I know I'm crazy but hey we all knew that.

I hope each of you are enjoying the much cooler weather here in the states, and also the lower gas prices, as of this afternoon we are at $1.97 a gallon. Yes I know enjoy it while it lasts because starting November 5th they will sky rocket again, just in time for the holiday season right.

It's been a very busy week for me, I started school this Monday and came home with four hours of homework between my Medical Terminology, Medical Assistant and Math I thought I would never get done. I even survived my first three tests, on one my Med. Terminology I received a 100% and on the other's I won't know until Monday when she hands back our exams. I am really nervous, I am the type that once you give me the exam, it all just whoosh, leaves my mind. I know it's there but I just can't seem to find it. But if I did bad on that I at least can make sure I do really good on everything else and it should balance out everything else, right!

Anyways, I finally got through the week and now have a chance to upload some pictures of some projects that I worked on last week and this past weekend at my friends crop she held here in town.

This first page is of my brother-in-law Brandon, he is in the Army and these are some pictures my sister-in-law, his wife took at family day. I plan on email a picture of the page to them and having him right the journaling for me. About how he made his decision to start his new training and just a bit of info from his point of view.

The paper and work blocks are by paperloft and say such things as "Brother," "Uncle," "Father," and "Hero." The twill ribbon and black embellishments are from CTMH.

The next page is of my son and some pictures of his second day of school and of his first bus ride home. The layouts are from Reflections by CTMH and the paper I used is Free Spirit, also from CTMH.

I have the next three days off and am hoping to get something else done. Of course I probably won't, I have a lot to do again this weekend. My husband is off and we are celebrating the anniversary of our son Levi's adoption which was this past Tuesday. This weekend is also the big Mable Leaf Parade and Car Show, so I've got to get busy and get my homework done so that I can enjoy the weekend.

Christmas 2007 layout

Lilly and I have working on this layout for the past couple of days. I saw this layout in a local scrapbook store (that is no longer open due to the economy) took a picture of it on my cell phone, and just now came across the paper and got to work on the page. It looks kinda similar to the one at the store but not a lot. Of course I decided to use some of my pictures from Christmas last year, yes I know Christmas is only 75 days away, but better late than never right! See even I am behind.

October Challenge Pages

I start school on Monday so I've been working on trying to get caught up and ahead and I've spending time with Lilly scrapbooking of course. So far this week we've finished several pages. Some where page kits swaps I had joined in the past and some are page swaps that I hosted. Here are three of these layouts I've been working one.

This page was a layout that I received in a swap that I hosted. I can not find the sheet that listed who each of the person's that participated. So I'm sorry I can't give credit to the wonderful woman who designed this Christmas page.

The Page was a part of a kit swap and again i don't have the ladies name who put the kit together. I did make a few changes to the page. The original was to have an 8 x 8 page on the left side and the smaller pictures on the right side weren't there either. I have a tendency to take a lot of pictures so my layouts normal need to have SEVERAL spaces for pictures.

I will be posting more later today or this weekend. I hope you enjoyed looking at these two.

September Page Challenges

Well September is done and gone and October is here. Now the busy times start, and the year will fly even faster than it was. For those familiar with my monthly goal, great for those who aren't well here's the details. At the beginning of the year I made a promise/challenge to myself to finish at least 5 two-page layouts a month. Well I think I've done pretty good and for those month's that I didn't make it I always tried to make that one up in the next month's pages. For the month of September I actually only completed 4 two-page layouts but... I did make a lot of cards this month between open house and workshop cards. So I'm letting myself off of the hook for that month. LOL
Anyways here's the fourth two-page spread for September and before you say anything yes I just noticed that my "D" is facing the wrong way on "road" I guess I'll have to fix that one.

The paper I used for this layout was Good Times and the stamp sets are Friendship and Endless Love all products are Close To My Heart. The layout design actually came from "Cherish" one the fabulous How To Books by Jeanette Lynton.

Well I am on to this months challenges. Wish me luck!!

Kristina Werner Color Challenge #24!

This weeks Color Challenge on Kristina Werner's blog page was made using Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Kiwi Kiss and Very Vanilla. I did have to change the color's just a bit, I used instead Garden Green, Chocolate, Autumn Terracotta. The scallop design was made by using a Dimensional Element Flower Garden that I just cut in half and then placed the 2x2 square over the top of that the flowers in the center of the card I made using miscellaneous B & T paper that I had on hand and them out using my Stampin' Up 5 Petal Flower punch!

Here are just a few of the beautiful decorations they had throughout the park. They are currently celebrating The Fall Festival it includes Arts and Crafts and different things until they start the Christmas Festival. Fall is my favorite time of year. So you can imagine how much I enjoyed just looking around at all of the decorations.

This first pictures shows my two children. Levi (sitting on the pumpkin) and Lilly (the one and only girl in the family), the other two children our my nephews Tristan and Dierks (the smallest)
Next are just some of the decorations throughout the city.

Also, here is a picture of one of the ladies demonstrating weaving at one of the arts and crafts booths.

We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the chance to get out of town for the day!

I am so tired!

Today our family went to Silver Dollar City, the four of us along with my mother-in-law, sister-in-law and her two children. The kids ages were Levi-5, Tristan-4, Lilly-3 and Dierks 13 months. I am so tired and worn out, as I think we all are. We had to have at least walked well over 5 miles if not more today. I know that's not a lot to some of you but to me it's a lot. I am so out of shape. But we all had fun and enjoyed ourselves. Today we learnt that Levi is old enough to ride some of the rides my himself. He even today got to ride his first big roller coaster with Daddy, Thunderation. No we didn't put him on Wildfire or anything like that but he came out saying "That was the awesomist thing ever!" Chet said he never set back and hid he leaned forward and the entire time, he had a ball! We even got my nephew who hates to ride wet ride to go onto The Lost River, which was a surprise to me. I am so proud of him. Also, my other nephew the youngest rode his first two rides, the butterflies and the frogs. He was adorable. I'll have to post some pictures tomorrow when I upload them to my computer. Right now I am ready for bed and can barely keep my eyes open to type this.

It was a wonderful day and a great weekend! I hope each of you enjoyed yours!

Monthly page challenge!

So far this month I have completed 3 of my 5 two-page layouts for the month. I am working on number 4 and hope to finish it up this morning, and for page five I know what I want to do so hopefully I fill get it completed next week since we have a busy weekend planned I don't think I'll have any free time to scrapbook. But I sure will be taking plenty of pictures, between my son Levi's Tae Kwon Do testing, a birthday party for my husband and my mom all on Saturday. On Sunday we are planning on going to Silver Dollar City, that is if the kids are good and Levi test really well, and doesn't mess up or goof off. No I see nothing wrong with bribery, it's my joy as a parent. LOL

Anyways, here is the latest page I completed. It is of Levi's 1st day of Kindergarten, the paper I found out CKC Tulsa it is from a wonderful booth called The Paper Loft. They had so much beautiful paper and embellishments, I could have stayed in that booth all day. The letters for the title are from CTMH they are the Rustic Alpha My Acrylix. Some of the C/S is also CTMH the Barn Red and the Colonial White.

I can't believe my little boy is a kindergartner where has the time gone? But he's thrilled to death, he already has five girlfriends, everywhere we go through the school there are these girls that are always saying "Hi Levi" and flirting it's so funny, he even has some of the older girls flirting with him. What are we going to do? LOL

Busy yet again!

I host some challenges on a yahoo group I am a member of, it is called CTMH Friends it is a wonderful group of ladies from all over the US, Canada and even other countries. I love the group and if it wasn't for my daily emails from the group I would go AWOL without some adult conversation. LOL

Anyways back to the challenges. Each month I host four separate challenges; Imagine Challenge(layouts from the CTMH How To Program Imagine), a color challenge, Card Sketch Challenge and a technique challenge.

So far this month I have completed two of the four and I am planning on working on the rest this week and into next week. I mean come on it National Stay at home Week on ABC I'm busy watching Dancing With The Stars and tomorrow night is the season premier of Ugly Betty, and Grey's Anatomy. Nothing is getting done tomorrow night. LOL

But here is my submission for the Imagine Challenge. The design name is Conclusion Combo on pages 56 and 57 of the Imagine book. I love this layout because it gave me the chance to incorporate several pictures from a trip we made to Silver Dollar City this Spring with my husbands family.

Also, here is a card I made using a sketch that I found online at Little Book of Sketches I've included a picture of the sketch and my take on the sketch.

Well I better get back to work cleaning house. My mom is coming over this weekend for my monthly workshop and I've got to get the house cleaned. Why is it that we think we have to have a clean house form company? It always ends up dirty again while they are here so what's the point? Then again my husband wishes we'd have people over more often so that I would clean more often. To that I say, "The dust rag fits your hand too buddy, so does the vacuum and broom." LOL No seriously it's not like I have a dirty house or anything, it's just lived in. I mean after all I have three kids they range from age 3 years, 5 years and 37 years.

Kristina Werner Color Challenge # 23

Okay so last week I missed the challenge, for the reason of. I had SO many things to do to prepare for my Fall/Winter Idea Book Premiere. Which was a great success by the way. But now things have somewhat slowed down. Okay not really but I'm trying to tell myself that they have. You know all work and no play really does make me a cranky person to be around. Just ask my daughter Lilly, who I have promised all week that we will have some scrapbook time together. Tomorrow I plan on making that promise come true. I WANT TO PLAY!!!

Today I did get to play a little bit, what did I do you ask well.. I did the Color Design Challenge from Kristina Werner's blog page. Of course I did need to change the color's around a bit to fit the choices I had with my supplies from Close To My Heart. I used Smokey Plum, Chocolate, Autumn Terracotta, Olive and Colonial White. I also used some clear buttons that I backed with some B & T paper from my Enchanted stash and some Chocolate ribbon. For the scalloped edges I used my new punch from Stampin' Up, I so am in love with there punch's.

I really like this design, and these color's are some of my favorite. Really gets me ready for fall. Cooler weather is just around the corner, to stay that is. I just may have to make some more of these to give to some of the special ladies in my life.

September 27th, Card workshop

Today's Projects!

Today has been a catch up day. I joined a couple of swaps and guess what! I forgot about them until yesterday and guess what else. One was due on this past Saturday and the other one was due today. Luckily I work well under pressure and got these done today and they will go postal first thing in the morning.

Unfortunately I had to put of my daughter and I scrapbooking together yet another day so I could make good on my commitments. Hopefully tomorrow I can get everything straightened up so that she can join me at my scrapbooking table. I really will need to make it up to her.

The good thing about my day is that I got this wonderful projects completed.

The first one is a Christmas Ornament I made for one swap.

It is made using chipboard coasters, Cranberry Cardstock, Evensong Creative Basics and My Acrylix Magical Seasons. Everything but the coasters is Close To My Heart products.

The second project was for a 12 x 12 kit swap. I only had to make 12 kits and luckily that's all. The paper is used in Whoops-A-Daisy by CTMH I also used the August Word Puzzle My Acrylix and Ocean, Watermelon and Hydrangea Cardstocks by CTMH.

I hope everyone loves the projects they receive and luckily I got them done before this head cold or allergies set in. I don't know which.

Idea Book Open House!

It went really well. I had three of my good friends show up and more was supposed to be there but some where my family and with my grandfather being in the hospital they were unable to make it and another friends Aunt was in ICU.

But we had a lot of fun, we made two really cute make it and take it cards. There was some door prizes given away and we had a chance to talk as we looked over and talked about the wonderful new papers and stamps from CTMH.

Here's a picture of the cards I made for the make it and take it's. And yes I came up with these in a little bit over an hour. I do work a lot better under pressure.

The first card is made using Evensong Creative Basics, and Magical Season's stamp set. And the second card is using Magical Moments and Postmarked stamp set.

Fall/Winter Idea Book Unvieling!

Today I will be holding the Fall/Winter Idea Book premier event, from 11 am to 12 pm at the Carthage Arby's. I hope for it to be a wonderful success and that everyone will enjoy the free prizes and make it and take its. Last night I was up until midnight making two adorable 4 x 4 cards. For some reason I have a tendency to work better under a deadline and stress. All week I had been working on the project and just couldn't get an idea. Finally it came to me.

August page challenge

Well August is over and September is upon us. Where has the summer gone? As a matter of fact where has the year gone? It's hard to believe that the holidays will be here before we know it.

This month I not only challenged myself to getting my five pages a month completed but also to use up some of the page kits I've collected over the past couple of years. Yes, I said years! Pretty sad uh!

Each one of these pages are from page swaps I've participated in. I no longer have the names of the wonderful ladies who designed them, put there time and effort was greatly appreciated. For those of you who don't know too much about page kit swaps. Here's some info. Usually a group of 10 or more get together each person makes 1 complete page, then cuts and puts kits together for how many are participating in the swap, the kits include all of the paper, embellishments and directions to complete the page, then mails them to the swap hostess. Who then receives all of the kits and mails them back swapped and you get so many kits. It is so much fun and you end up with some wonderful ideas and pages. I like these so much better than completed page swaps, on these I get to change it around to fit my style. I would love to hosts one of my own kit swaps if you are interested in joining email me and I'll try and get a group of us together.

Here's my pages. I actually completed one more than my goal of five a month. So far I've done really good this year. I'm no where near being caught up. I still even have pictures from 2007 that I need to get scrapbooked. Some I finished up this month, like our Christmas pages and so forth. I'm setting a goal for myself this month to complete 10 two-page layouts. Do you think I can do it? I'm going to try really hard to do it. Some may come off the top of my head, or from some of my idea books, some might even come from page kit swaps or even idea's I've gotten from bulletin board and a really great yahoo group I am a member of. Kristina Werener's Color Challenge # 20

This weeks color challenge by Kristina Werener included the SU color's chocolate chip, regal rose, pink pirouette, certainly celery and very vanilla. I did have to change the color's a little to fit the CTMH color choices so mine are Chocolate, Baby Pink, Blush, Sweet Leaf. The background paper I used under the cream piece is from Life's Delight and the stamp set used is by Close To My Heart called Treasure Life, it is the September stamp of the month.

For the scalloped edges I am excited to say I got to use my new Scallop Edge punch that I just purchased from Stampin' Up! The ribbon was just something I had on hand.

Just for laughs!

For those of you who know my daughter Lilly, you know she's a singer and a nut on top of that. For those of you who don't you'll understand more once you watch the video. Every time she sings a song, it's never the real version it's Lilly's version. For instance, Jingle Bells last Christmas, instead of "Oh what fun, it is to ride..." Here's Lilly's, "hell of fun, it is to ride...." Well that had to be corrected really quickly since they were singing it for her daycare Christmas program. Can you believe Chet got onto me for teaching it to her. I mean give me a little credit here, she can come up with these things on her own.

Well she's been at it again. This time she's done it to "I'm in the Lord's Army!" Throughout the whole song you'll notice words have been changed, but our favorite is the a section where it's supposed to say "Shoot the artillery!" Well she has decided to "Shoot the celery!" I've about died laughing this weekend.

She even has a cute rendition of "Booster!" I'll have to get her to sing that in the next couple of days and post that.

I figured everyone who has children, or nieces would enjoy this little song!

Kristina Werener's Color Challenge # 19

This weeks Color Challenge by Kristina Werener was so much fun to do. I've been wanting to do the Dahlia folding technique for some time and it worked out perfectly for this card. Because there was so much work in doing the actual folding I wanted to keep the rest of the card simple and elegant.

The paper I used was Silhouette and the stamp set was Romantic Backgrounds, all Close To My Heart products. The color choice I used where Black, Grey Wool and Colonial White.

I am a member of a yahoo group called "CTMHfriends" it's a wonderful group of woman who are very creative and inspiring. This weekend the main topic was our scrapbook/stamp spaces and organization. There was a lot of wonderful tips and even better pictures of some of the member's work areas. I defiantly was in dream mode most of the weekend. I mean don't get me wrong, I love my area I just wish I had a separate room, and was able to paint and decorate the way I really want to do (we leave in a rental and can't change the paint scheme, everything is white, do you know how boring white can really be and how easily it shows dirt.)

Anyways it got me to thinking why not post my pics here for everyone to see. I also have some questions for you. Do you have any organizational tips you'd like to share or even a picture of your area if so forward it to me and I will gladly post on my blog page.

On to my work zone:

This is a pic of my craft/note board it has several cards I've made or received posted on it and even notes or pictures done by my kids. The two drawer cabinet on the floor is where I stash my stamp sets.

Here's a close up of the top drawer. And yes the second drawer is just as full. And no I will not say how many I own, it could be used against me later.

Next is a picture of my bookcase that holds my magazines, idea books and photo boxes, some hold photo's other hold embellishments. The cabinet on the wall was a gift from my husband last Christmas it holds some of my ribbon and all of my stamp pads and jars with yes more embellishments. The dresser used to be Lilly's (no I didn't steal it from her, she got a new one) it holds my albums and page kits.

Next is the view you would see as you come in the front door. Ain't it beautiful.

And last I had to share a close up of this paper rack my step dad made for me a couple of years ago for my birthday present. My mom has requested one but now he is too busy restoring his Chevelle to do any woodworking. I'm so sorry mom and no you can't have it back. LOL

Kristina Werener's color challenge # 18

My upline Yvonne got me addicted to these challenges. Last week there wasn't one and I was having withdrawels. LOL Anyways for this challenge of course the colors were for SU colors and I just converted them to CTMH colors as close as I could. The ones I used were Hollyhock, Honey, Autumn Terracotta, Black and Garden Green.

This was actually a hard challenge for me, I usually don't work with this type of color combination but I think it turned out pretty great. At least my daughter said so, and she's the master of everything scrapbooking and stamping. Also, the stamp set I used was the Stamp of the Month for August, "Today's Date."

Hello everyone! Well July is almost over and August is upon us maybe things will start to settle down once again. There are some exciting things going on right now with the biggest one being Convention going on right now in Florida. I was unable to attend this year but once I know what's going on I'll let you know also. I do know that there are going to be some new wonderful products coming out in the new idea book that will be available on September 1st. August Workshop

It's August can you believe it? I sure can't I just have 11 day's until my little boy starts Kindergarten. I'm not sure if I should cry or scream YIPPEE!!!!!! No seriously it just seems like yesterday I was holding him in one arm, feeding him with a bottle and changing diapers. Where has the time gone? Mmmm!! I made need support or a crying should on August 14th. Oh believe me I will not let him see me cry I will wait until I am in my Expedition with the tinted windows where no one can see me. Poor Lilly she'll have to live with me for the day. She may need support also. She already thinks her mother is "Weird" (Thanks grandma Candie!)

Anyways, a change of subject is needed. I'm so excited to announce that I met my monthly challenge to myself. For those who are new to my blog here's the scoop. In January I challenged myself to complete five two-page layouts each month. I almost made it except for June which I only completed one. (That was the month Lilly was so sick and I was working outside of the home, I know what was I thinking?) So to make up for it I challenged myself for the month of July to complete not only the normal five but five more to make up for the month of June and can you believe it. I MADE IT!!!!! At exactly 11:48 pm on Friday night (CST) I finished my tenth page. I am so excited. I thought I would share the one's I worked on Thursday and Friday to you all!

Father's Day:

On this set of pages I used It's a guy thing and for the font some letters I copied of my computer then traced and cut out. Yes, ladies I know I need a cricut but my budget just can't afford it.

Look Who's 5:

On this set I used Good Times Paper Packet and I also used my Coluzzle to cut out the letters for "Look Who's" the number 5 came from CTMH My Acrylix Solo #5.

Flower Garden:

This page was something I had seen awhile back that I just loved. It is done using the Wipe 'N Swip sponges and reinker. You probably think that the green paper is pre-designed that way put it wasn't it was actually done using a sponge.

Workshop project

I just finished up the project for my August workshop. It is so much fun and easy to do that I know everyone will enjoy doing it.

The paper packet I used is Boom-Di-Ada, and misc. matching cardstock. I also used the August SOTM Today's Date for the month heading on each page. The book actually measures 6" x 6"

For those of you who are looking at this and wondering what???? Each month has a pull out sheet that you write on making it useful for many different things. A planner for birthdays, anniversary's and so forth. Or if you are like me I have a calendar that I write on it what we've done on that day that way when I go back to scrapbook I just pull out my handy dandy little calendar or planner and there it is the date that we did such and such on.

Hello! I hope everyone is doing great! It is so hot here I don't feel like doing much of anything. That and Levi and Lilly seem to be at each other constantly. Growing up as an only child I used to wonder what it would be like to have a sibling. Not anymore, thanks to my mom and dad for only have one. It was much more peaceful. I'm sure they wouldn't agree though. My mom says I was quite the handful enough for 3 or 4 children. LOL

I have been working on a lot of projects. I'm actually working on my August workshop project. I hope to finish it up tomorrow and get some pictures posted by tomorrow night. HOPEFULLY!!!

I just wanted to say a quick hello and let you know I was still around. Have a wonderful night.

Color Challenge

I made this card for a color challenge for Kristina Werner's color inspiration challenge. The color's I used where Hollyhock, Seafoam, Blush and White Daisy. The stamp sets used are Spot On Background, and Say It In Style. I also used Big Pinks flowers. Other products I used where just things I had on hand. If you look real close in the center of the background stamp at the stars I sprinkled some glitter on. I loved this color's and had a lot of fun designing this card. I hope you all love it.

Crayon Resist Challenge

Tonight is my unit meeting and I will be teaching a class on Crayon Resist. I had never tried this and had a lot of fun creating these cards. The stamp set I used is Joy Forever and for the Exclusive inks colors I used Olive, Autumn Terracotta and Black.

This technique is very simple and does not take much time to complete. Here are the steps.

1) Stamp your design with a dark ink such as black or the darkest color in your design.

2) color with a white crayon where you would like to highlight your design.

3) Using a sponge dauber sponge ink from your ink pad over the areas of the design.

4) Last take a paper towel or Kleenex and rub it over the design to remove the ink over the crayon markings.

It's as simple as that. Once you've tried it email me your finished project and you'll find it on blog page and you just might be the lucky winner of a prize.

I'm guess I'm not doing so bad. These pictures were taken back in February at Levi's 5th B-day party, and it's only July that I finally got a chance to work on them. Not bad at all, at least it's this year and not last year. Heck I haven't even done our Christmas pages from 2007 yet. Maybe I need to work on those.

Anyways. Here's the info on the products I used for this page. Shock of all Shocks, the B & T paper used is not CTMH paper. I know drag yourselves up off of the floor. I just couldn't find what I wanted to use that CTMH made but.... the rest of the products used are CTMH. You didn't think I'd not use my own products at all did you????

Stamp sets used were: Rustic Alphabet, Ahoy Matey and Journaling Jots

Cardstock and Exclusive Inks: Cranberry, Black and Dessert Sand

Accessories: Black My Accents, and natural hemp.

Wednesday's pages

Well today I FINALLY got to work on some scrapbook pages. Some I just had to finish up, journaling and accessorizing. LOL The four I'm going to show you are from our NHRA Drag Race we went to on June 1st at Heartland Park, Topeka, KS.

5X World Champ:

This page was so much fun to do. As we were walking around the pits watching the crews work on the cars we stopped by Tony Schumacher sovereign trailer and he just happened to be there signing autographs. Well for those of you who don't know, our family is die hard "Sarge" fans. Levi was able to point out who he was in pictures by the time he was 3 years old. Well you can imagine how excited Levi and Chet are. When it comes up our turn Levi looks at Tony and says, "Do you know your Tony Schumacher?" Tony laughs and says, "Well yes son, I know." Levi then says, "You are my favorite driver!" It was really cute and Tony took the time to play and talk to Levi for at least 5 min. They talked about driving cars and Levi even says "I want to be like you when I grow up." It was awesome that he took the time to speak to my son.

The paper used is from Game On and I also used The Works alphabet stamp set.

Nitro Mania:

This was a fun layout to. It took me several days to cut out the title once I finally decided what I wanted it to be that is. The paper used here is also from Game On. On the page on the right in the upper corner the journal spot says this.

"Mania: 1) Type of mental disorder. 2) an intense enthusiasm for. Nitro: Ch2NO2 Nitromethane"

Well if you have seen us before a race and our excitement you know that the above definitions are true. LOL

Burning Rubber:

I wanted a page to show many different pictures and this one turned out great. The paper used is Game On again, and the stamp set used is Essentials.

And The Winner Is:

On this page I used It's A Guy Thing paper packet and Whimsy Caps stamp set. I wanted a way to showcase the winners of the race. The brackets I copied from my husbands National Dragster magazine one is for Funny Car, Top Fuel and Pro Stock. I also tried to put a picture of the winner by the printouts. A little side note, the picture of my husband with Levi on his shoulders, as I was taking this picture a member of National Dragster took a picture of the two of them from the front and it is on there website. "A day with dad." I thought that was really cool.

Mother's Day Layout

Okay so my past few days at home haven't been filled with Scrapbooking. More like cleaning, cooking and most importantly spending time with my kiddo's. When Lilly comes up to me and says, "Mommy will you cuddle with me?" I just CANNOT turn her down. She asked for something just yesterday and I said "Let mommy finish folding the cloths first." she then looks at me and says, "But mom I'm cute and a lot more fun than the cloths." Now you tell me what's a mom to say to that. Levi has even been cute instead of the living terror he was being. Yesterday he even had me crying, he said something wonderful about his Papa Doug, who passed away long before we started fostering Levi, that just melted my heart, and was something I really needed to hear. So as you can imagine I haven't had much time for scrapping or stamping. But I did finish up a few projects.

I thought I would post this layout tonight and tomorrow I'd take pics and post a few more layouts then. Last month I fell behind on my monthly challenge to myself to complete 5 two page layouts for our family album. Well for this month I'm trying to do 10 completed 2 page layouts by July 31st. I'm getting close. I'm on my sixth one now so...

But here's one of my layouts for Mother's Day and yes before you ask it is for this year!

The paper used is Paper Garden, and the layout came from Imagine. (All CTMH products). And before you say anything yes I know that there isn't any journaling, I'm the type that finishes the page and then comes back a couple of days later and then does journaling. I seem to think out better what I want to write after looking at it a couple of days.

Making Changes.

Well it seems I've decided to go and make several changes in my life. Why not go ahead and make some changes to my blog page to. I hope you like the new layout and page design. My sister in law lead me to this awesome website that had some great free backgrounds and I thought this one matched my style. I've also changed the email update so if you want to receive updates of when changes are made to my blog page make sure to go over and resign up so that you don't miss any neat projects or news.

As for the changes in my life wow I've made quite a few I guess you could say. The biggest one being that I've decided to start an in home daycare. After working away from the kids in an office setting I just didn't seem to fit into my husband and all of my family have been great in offering there support. Now I just need the kids. I've missed my children so much and we've been having behavior issues again we just feel this is were I belong. I hope this is where God is leading me.

Also, being back at home means I can focus more on my CTMH business and get back to scrapbooking. Oh and also house cleaning and cooking for my family. LOL Important things first right. Just don't tell Chet (my husband) what order I put the last four things in. I'm not sure he would understand the way the rest of you would. No he's really a great guy and you can't help but love him.

Well I need to get off of here and get to work. But I hopefully will have a few things to post in the next couple of days.

Well FINALLY Lilly is back to her hard headed cute self again, she's driving her father and I crazy. But it's such a difference from a week ago today that she can drive us anyway she wants as long as she is feeling better. All in all she lost 8 lbs in 5 days. Scared me to death and I know all of you mother's are saying "oh but it get's worse!" Thanks!!!

For all of you who were praying for her recovery thank you so much my family and I greatly appreciate it.

On an up note my son has his last day of Pre-K summer school tomorrow and I worked on a little gift for his teacher tonight. I hope she likes it. This is the first paint can I've actually attempted as a gift for someone and I hope it turned out okay.

The paper used was from the Rough 'N Tumble set and the stamp set is from "School Zone." And yes if you noticed the hand cut out on the lid is actually Levi's hand and he signed it himself.

I'm so proud!!!

Well after a much stressful weekend things are finally starting to calm back down. For those of you who didn't know. My daughter Lilly has been extremely ill for the past several days. We thought it was just from being out in the heat last Friday at daycare and got to hot. She ended up throwing up and running a low grade temp. On Saturday she was a little bit better but just slept alot and when we went out driving around she ended up throwing up again and wasn't eatting we were just at this point trying to keep fluids in her so that she wouldn't dehydrate. Anyways come Sunday morning she woke up really sick again and running a temp of 102.8 and I said that's it we are taking her to the ER. Well in the 20 min it took us to get dressed wake up bubby and drive just over a mile and a half to the ER her temp had sky rocketed up to 106.8. They(the ER) got her in immediatly and worked really hard to get her temp down and took x-rays of her tummy and did blood work and urine work.
Three hours later they are sending us home with a temp of 99.9 and with a diagnose's of a high white blood cell count and an infection in her intestine's. The only place we can figure out where she would have got into something that caused the infection was on Father's Day we went to a local lake, Stockton, and went swimming. But me not thinking didn't even think of the run off from all of the rain and so forth that would cause the water to be infectious. But I guess it was.
The good news is she is doing much better and is coming around to being the hyper drive me completly crazy three year old that she is. But she can drive me anyway she wants to just as long as she is feeling so much better. To see my little girl just laying there not moving and running such a high temp is so scary, I felt completly helpless and scared out of my mind.
My five year old did say the funniest thing to try and cheer us up and it worked for a little bit. "I was sleeping and I'm very disappointed in you guys(dad and I) for waking me up." It's just what we needed to hear some comedy. LOL
So more good news is today, I took her to her regular doctor and we did some more blood work and he said she needed mommy time and that I was to stay home with her the rest of the day, daddy took yesterday off to be with her. He said if I didn't take it easy he would be seeing me in there next week sick, so he gave me an excused absence from work and her and I slept, watch Barbie (yes I could have done without this, but hey for Lilly I'd watch anything) and played lazy. I also did get to work on a couple of cards for some challenges I am leading on a Yahoo Group I am a member of. I thought I would share these with you.

The first one is 4th of July and for this card I used the July Word Puzzle stamp set and the Blue Ribbon Level 2 Paper Pack from CTMH.

The second one is made using Sunny Yellow, Cranberry, Topiary and Colonial White Cardstock along with School Zone and Spots on Background stamp all from CTMH also.

You've seen the first example of this Saturday's workshop using the Silhouette Level 2 Paper Packet. Here's the actually one we will be making. It is made using the Blue Ribbon Level 2 Paper Packet and the My Acrylix July Word Puzzle stamp set. Class cost is $15 dollars prepaid or $20 the day of the class. Holiday Swap pages

I've had a couple of particpants that were in my swap want a sneak peak at the pages that were done for a Holiday Swap I hosted. I'm only going to show the one's that I have permission to post here. Once I get approval from the others I will post those.

Here are three of the pages that I did:

Be Mine: I used Role Play from Imagine for this layout and Silhouette Level 2 Paper Packet and Creative Basics by CTMH.

Summer Fun: On this one I used several different patterns of paper so not many of them are alike other than the page design. For this layout I used Sweet Symphony from Imagine.

Fall: On this page I actually used the CTMH's latest How to book called Reflections. For those who have not got a chance to see this book here is an example from those wonderful book. The right page is called Main Frame-Four Square and the left is called Bottom Border-Title. I just switched out where the title was supposed to go for a journaling block instead.

The next two were done by one of my customers and fellow consultants.

Spring: By Candie Reinhart

Candie used Sweet Pea Level 2 Paper Packet by CTMH and the layout concept came from Cherish Give Me Ten.

Happy Easter: By Mindy Rapp

Okay so this month I got started a little bit earlier than usually getting my pages done for my monthly challenge to myself. So I'm on a roll uh.

I'm beginning to think my focus was on my daughter this month. LOL This is another layout of her and her 3rd birthday party we had back in February. Yes February but at least it was of this year. The layout is from Imagine and the supplies used are: Floral Tapestry Level 2 Paper packet, Twilight Cardstock, Colonial White Cardstock, Doodle Alphabet My Acrlix stamp set and misc Hollyhock My Accents Accesory's.

Three continued:

I had taken several pictures at my daughter's birthday party and I loved each one of them but needed a layout that I could feature each one. This concept came again from Imagine and the supplies used are: Coluzzle File Folder, Breeze Cardstock, Caprice Level 2 Paper Packet and Charms.

June Workshop

4 and 5 for the month of April

Well I made it...... I don't know how but I finished 5 family layouts for the month of April all in the last week. Now if only I can get my pages done for my swap that I am hosting it will be a miracle. I'm almost there, I have come to the conculsion that I put way to much thought and work into swap pages. But hey they turn out cute.

Here are pages 4 and 5 for my monthly challenge to myself.

This layout came from Cherish and the paper was just something I had on hand.

I hope you enjoyed and so far it's been 4 months that I've met my personal challenge. Can I do it again in May? Maybe this next month I'll start a little sooner than the last seven days of the month. LOL

Here is another layout I finished just this week. It is a single page, but I didn't have enough pics for a two page layout.

This is a layout I say in my Creating Keepsakes magazine, but had to adapt for my pictures. The paper is something I had on hand and the stamp sets from CTMH I used are Rustic Numbers and Youthful Heart. I'm sure my mother in law will appreciate me posting her age. The kids in the picture is of course my two children, Levi and Lilly and the other little boy is my nephew Tristan.

I have a few others I'm going to work on today and I'll post later today. I have two more 2 page layouts to finish to meet my month goal. I know it wouldn't be so hard if I'd start earlier in the month. LOL I always work well under pressure.

But hey it wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't also working on the projects for my Summer Idea Book Unveiling, which is this Saturday from 11am - 1pm. The location has changed it will now be held at the Carthage Arby's Banquet hall but don't worry I'm calling you all to let you know of the changes. Please don't forget to RSVP if you are planning on coming so that I can plan accordingly..
